Do Veneers Really Transform Smiles?

engelberg-veneersWhen people think of cosmetic dentistry, they mainly focus on teeth whitening. While this can brighten teeth by removing discoloration, esthetic smile complaints aren’t just limited to teeth stains. People may also have misshapen teeth or unsightly gaps between teeth. We may instead recommend a procedure that can address multiple issues at once: dental veneers. Do veneers really transform smiles? How are they placed?

Frequently Asked Questions About Smile Transformation with Veneers

Question: What cosmetic issues can veneers address?

Answer: We can use them to mask serious discoloration that may not respond to traditional teeth whitening. We can also use them to reshape a tooth that has been chipped, worn down, or is malformed. We can also close any gaps between the teeth or even correct the appearance of minor alignment issues.

Question: How are they placed?

Answer: We will first prepare the tooth by removing a thin layer of enamel and taking detailed impressions. A dental lab will use the materials to fabricate the restorations. Once complete, we will check the fit and make adjustments before placing the restoration with a powerful bonding agent.

Question: Is there a minimal prep alternative?

Answer: Yes. Like the traditional option, minimal prep veneers are placed onto the front of the teeth to change the color and shape. However, since they are significantly thinner, we don’t need to remove any tooth structure before placing them.

Question: What if I need a crown?

Answer: If your is severely damaged or suffers from decay or infection, we may suggest a more serious solution. Using CEREC technology, we can create and place a lifelike and strong crown in a single visit. If you have any questions about crowns or veneers then please contact our office right away.
