Can Crowns Be Placed In One Visit?

Preparation

First, we will carefully examine your smile to assess the severity of the issue and choose the appropriate treatment options. If we select a crown, we will prepare the teeth by removing a small amount of tooth structure to make room for the restoration. We will the take digital impressions of your smile. Digital impressions mean greater detail and no need for biting down on sticky materials.

Placement

The digital materials are uploaded into a computer, where the lab technician creates a 3D model of the tooth and designs the restoration. The information is then uploaded into the CEREC machine. Using CAD/CAM technology, CEREC mills the new restoration from a solid block of ceramic. The doctor can then check the fit, make any necessary adjustments, and finally place the restoration with a powerful bonding agent. The entire procedure only takes one visit, as opposed two or three.

We can use one to protect the tooth from further damage, decay, or infection. We can use them to repair teeth or even replace them by anchoring a dental bridge in place or restoring a dental implant. We use ceramic because the material is strong, stain-resistant, and offers the same lifelike, translucent appearance as natural tooth enamel.
