Answer: If you have a damaged or decayed/infected tooth that requires removal you will need replacement. With immediate implants, we can place the biocompatible titanium implant post during the same visit as the extraction. Once the area heals several weeks later we can place the restoration. Typically, we can’t place the post right away due to bacteria, but recent advances now make this a possibility in select cases.
Question: Can anyone ever receive the whole thing, restorations and all, in one visit?
Answer: In rare cases we can do just that, complete the entire placement and restoration in one visit. However, there will be a number of different factors the doctor will need to take into account, such as the health and stability of your gums and jawbone.
Question: How long will my new tooth last?
Answer: On average, you can expect the new tooth to last a lifetime. However, you will need to properly care for it, just as you would your natural teeth. We suggest brushing and flossing every day to maintain the health of surrounding teeth and the gum tissue. We also recommend having your teeth professionally cleaned twice a year.
