5 Signs You Need Cosmetic Dentistry

engelberg cosmetic dentistryCosmetic dentistry allows a dentist to assess the esthetic issues with your smile and recommend treatment to target these problems. Treatment can be as minor as a teeth whitening session and as extensive as a complete smile makeover. How do you know if you need cosmetic dentistry? When should you see a dentist about improving your smile’s beauty?

Signs You Need Cosmetic Dentistry

  1. Teeth Stains: Do you have stained teeth? We can examine your smile and assess the severity of your discoloration. For most cases of discoloration, we may recommend an in-office treatment that remove stains in under two hours or an at-home alternative that erases stains with trays and gel in about a week. However, if your discoloration is so severe that these don’t adequately address them, we may mask them with a restoration, such as dental bonding or porcelain veneers.
  2. Misalignment: If you have an uneven smile we can often address it with either cosmetic or orthodontic treatment. For very minor alignment issues, we can often mask the appearance of them with veneers, a thin restoration placed onto the font of the teeth. We can also correct misalignment with Invisalign, using clear aligners to straighten teeth.
  3. Misshapen Teeth: If your teeth are misshapen or malformed, we can correct them in one visit with either dental bonding or dental contouring, or possibly a combination of both.
  4. Chipped/Broken Teeth: If you damage a tooth we can restore the lost tissue with dental bonding. If the damage is severe, then we may place a ceramic dental crown. Our lifelike crowns can be placed in one visit using CEREC technology.
  5. All of the Above: What if you have one or more esthetic issues? With a complete smile makeover, we use a combination of our cosmetic procedures to completely change the smile’s appearance.
