How is Zoom! Possible?
Zoom!® is a teeth bleaching treatment designed to lighten both the dentin and enamel of your teeth. Your gums are covered during the treatment to reduce potential sensitivity. Gel containing hydrogen peroxide is carefully applied by Dr. Engelberg to the surfaces of your teeth. A specialized light containing an infrared filter is exposed to the surface of your smile to activate the peroxide gel. As the peroxide breaks down into oxygen bubbles, yellowing and staining on your teeth is virtually erased. The internal structure of your teeth remains completely healthy and intact during and after the treatment, thanks in part to a final fluoride treatment to round out the procedure.
Is Zoom! Right for Me?
As with any teeth whitening system, results vary based on the degree of staining and the condition of your teeth to begin with. Occasionally, stains are so internal (called intrinsic stains) that no whitening treatment will work. In these cases, Dr. Engelberg recommends porcelain veneers. To make an appropriate Zoom! bleaching candidate, you must have healthy teeth and gums. We always begin with a good dental cleaning and examination for any untreated cavities or gum disease. Dr. Engelberg will want to address these issues before exposing the tissues in your mouth to strong bleaching chemicals.
