Do You Have Questions About Immediate Dental Implants?

Traditionally, a dental implant placement involves surgically inserting the implant portion. The implant, made from a biocompatible material (titanium), bonds with the jawbone and heals over a period of three to four months. We then add the abutment and restoration to complete the tooth. However, what if the entire procedure could be done in one day? In some cases, this is indeed possible. Do you have questions about immediate dental implants?

Frequently Asked Questions About Immediate Dental Implants

Question: Can you replace a single tooth?

Answer: In some cases, yes! After extracting a tooth, we will insert the dental implant and then immediately attach an abutment and place a temporary dental crown. As the area heals and the patient follows the dentist’s aftercare instructions, we will prepare the final dental restoration, which we will then place in the coming weeks. You don’t have to have a gap in your smile as the area heals!

Question: What if I have multiple missing teeth?

Answer: Again, technology has advanced to the state that we can sometimes provide a full dental prosthetic, such as a bridge or denture, in a single visit. Again, reaming and/or damage teeth are extracted and the dental implants placed. We then attach a temporary fixed prosthetic, which the patient wears until the final one is complete. You will leave the office the same day with a full smile!

Question: What makes a good candidate for this procedure?

Answer: Patients that qualify have enough strong jawbone tissue to support the prosthetics and/or tooth. They are also free of any underlying issues, such as periodontitis (advanced gum disease) or dental infection. If you have any questions about immediate dental implants, then contact our team today.
