We understand that many of our patients have very hectic schedules. Making time for work and family leaves little time to visit the dentist. Fortunately, to assist these patients we have procedures designed to improve smiles in as little as one visit. In fact, in a single visit we can repair smiles using dental bonding.
Applying the Composite Resin
The material we use in a dental bonding procedure is known as composite resin. We also use this in our metal-free tooth-colored fillings. We will begin by cleaning the tooth and removing any decay. We may then etch the tooth to allow the material to better adhere through the bonding process. We shade the material (to help ensure it blends with the tooth) and apply it in several layers. As the composite resin cures under a light, we sculpt and mold the tooth. Finally, we end the procedure with a thorough tooth polishing for a more natural appearance.
What Smile Issues can You Correct?
We can use the procedure to repair chipped teeth, mask permanent teeth stains, and close gaps between teeth. We may use the procedure as part of a complete smile makeover or in a combination with veneers to address cosmetic issues and improve your smile’s esthetics.
Dental Contouring
Sometimes, we offer both bonding and contouring in the same visit. Contouring involves gently buffing the tooth to remove any pits or grooves in the tooth’s surface. We also reshape teeth, dulling overly pointed teeth or correct malformed/damaged teeth. As with bonding, the entire procedure can be completed in one visit.
