Can Bonding Solve Your Cosmetic Problems?

Veneers allow a dentist to completely transform the appearance of a tooth, addressing multiple cosmetic and restorative concerns. However, we also offer a unique procedure that can act as a cost-effective alternative: dental bonding. Can bonding solve your cosmetic problems?

How Does Dental Bonding Work?

If we decide that you are a candidate for this procedure, we will first remove any decay from the teeth and thoroughly clean it. We will also gently etch the surface of the tooth. Then, we will prepare the composite resin. This is the same metal-free material we use for our tooth-colored fillings. The resin will be shaded to match the rest of your tooth structure.

After applying the composite resin in several layers, the dentist will begin to sculpt the tooth as the material cures under a light. Finally, we polish the tooth for a more natural looking appearance. Start to finish, the entire procedure takes just one visit.

What Cosmetic Concerns Can The Procedure Address?

We can use dental bonding to mask teeth stains or to repair chipped teeth. We can also close gaps between teeth and help reshape malformed teeth. Remember, repairing a damaged tooth, even if the damage seems minor, is vital to avoiding the onset of tooth decay.

How Does This Relate to Dental Contouring?

Instead of adding material, contouring involves gently buffing away a thin layer of the tooth to remove pits or grooves in the surface (or to dull overly pointed teeth). We may perform this procedure in the same visit as your bonding one. If you have any questions about reshaping or repairing your tooth then please contact our office today. We can perform an exam to decide which cosmetic procedure will best address your esthetic concerns.
